【Event Highlight】"HR Legal Risks and Strategies Seminar” was a Blast!

As there are ongoing uncertainties in the local and global economy, BridgeBuilder HRMS understands that many companies may be considering restructuring or reorganizing their businesses, which could lead to employee layoffs or terminations and related legal issues. To address this, BridgeBuilder HRMS, in collaboration with Tech-Trans, held a seminar on "HR Legal Risks and Strategies" on last Wednesday (March 19, 2025) to help businesses adapt flexibly to changes in labor laws.

The seminar specifically invited Mr. Raymond Fung, Principal Consultant of Strategic Consulting Limited, Mr. Stanley Wong, Vice President of Tech-Trans Telecom (China) Limited, and Mr. Stephen Lam, Associate Director (Product Development) at FlexSystem Limited, to share insights on legal risks related to employee dismissals, outsourcing IT technical support services, and how the latest features of BridgeBuilder HRMS can help businesses meet the requirements of various labor laws and policies. This informative sharing enables HR not only to keep up with changes in labor laws and reduce legal risks, but also to enhance overall work efficiency, management effectiveness, and business competitiveness.

In the first session, Raymond shared strategies for dismissing and dealing with problematic employees with risk assessments. To offer a clearer understanding of how HR can learn from past experiences to make strategic decisions, he provided the participants with classic legal cases where problematic employees accused employers of criminal acts and explained related laws, empowering our participants to face unexpected circumstances while reducing legal risks.

The second part was presented by Stanley, who introduced their IT infrastructure and commonly used outsourced IT technical support services, helping businesses in maintaining system stability and security to handle various unforeseen situations.

Last but not least, our Associate Director (Product Development), Stephen, provided an in-depth explanation to our guests about how the features of BridgeBuilder HRMS effectively identify and meet the requirements and changes in labor laws. This includes a reminder function reminder function for alerting the HR about former employees who have left the company for 7 years or more to comply with the Personal Data Privacy Ordinance, a"418" or “468” checker that operates based on actual working hours and future planned hours to ensure compliance with “418” or “468” rules, and an automated calculator for processing leave pay and other statutory benefits based on average wages in accordance with regulation "713" and how to budgeting for long service payment and severance payment under the "Abolition of MPF Offsetting Arrangement”.  These features ensure that the system is highly compliant, effectively protecting businesses from legal risks and allowing them to easily adapt to various changes in labor policies.

To facilitate exchanges among our guests and consultants, we specially prepared a networking session with dedicated refreshments, allowing everyone to share feedback and consult with our system consultants in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We are very pleased to receive positive feedback and to see our guests showing strong interest in the seminar topics. The valuable feedback from our guests will help us gain a deeper understanding of their business needs and challenges, encouraging us to continue organizing more events of various natures and themes in order to share latest industry insights, and assisting our clients in achieving digital transformation for optimal HR management operations!
